If you are like us, about 90% of your life these days can be summed up in one word: Coronavirus. President Trump has declared a national emergency. Our physical office, just like all other offices, is closed! No staff is there. Our doors are locked. But we are not resting idle! Read on!
Call us!
We are not at the office, but we are answering the phone! Call us and one of our staff will pick up and put you through to your lawyer! While our office is closed, we will be happy to “meet” with you by phone, at your convenience.
We Are Home, But Working!
We are at work! Much of what we can do can be done remotely. Fortunately, through the years, we have been investing in advanced technology that allows us to work from anywhere. We are taking phone calls, we are talking with insurance adjusters about settling cases, we are preparing legal pleadings, drafting letters, talking to clients and opposing Counsel and witnesses. In sum, we are doing everything we would under normal circumstances do in the office – but from home.
Changes in work policy and sick leave
We care about our staff. We have not let any of them go! Our secretaries and legal assistants are also working from home. We are keeping them on the payroll! If they (or a family member they are caring for) gets sick from the corona virus so that they can’t work, Neri Law Group will pay their wages and will not count the lost time toward sick leave or vacation days. If they can work from home, so be it. If they are too sick to do so, we understand.
Changes in court appearances
The Florida Court authorities have directed judges to minimize physical appearances in court. Any legal proceedings, such as oral arguments, scheduling conferences, settlement conferences, are to be conducted by telephone wherever possible. Jury trials have been suspended until further notice. Basically, the court system is just about shut down. But we are doubling down on our preparations for court appearances once courts open up again!
